The University of Latvia (UL) was founded in 1919. Currently, the university educates over 14,000 students. students. The unit has 13 faculties, over 20 research institutes and independent research centers. Due to the large variety of specializations and fields of study, UL is considered to be one of the largest and leading universities in the Baltic region. UL offers over 130 accredited academic and professional programs. In 2019, the university was ranked 801-1000 in the international ranking - QS World University. The University of Latvia is the first and so far the only higher education institution in Latvia to be included in the above-mentioned ranking at such a high level. On this basis, it can be concluded that it is among the 5% best universities in the world.
